Google review cards for auto repair shops.
Drivers search for a mechanic when something has gone wrong, and they read reviews to decide whom to trust. A card on the service counter asks at key handover.
Why the review does not get written.
A repair is a grudge purchase. Customers are relieved when it is done, they drive off, and the moment passes. The best time to ask is the minute the keys change hands.
Where the card goes.
- On the service counter
- Beside the card reader, where the customer pays and collects the keys.
- In the waiting area
- For while-you-wait jobs such as tyres, oil changes and inspections.
- With the invoice
- Hand the card over with the paperwork while you walk the customer through the work done.
When to ask.
- At key handover, after you have explained what was fixed.
- When the bill comes in under the estimate, or the car is ready early.
- When a customer says they will tell a friend about you.
Worth knowing.
- Do not offer money off the next service for a review. Google's policy forbids rewards for reviews.
- Reviews that name the job done, such as brakes or a clutch, help the next reader. You can say what kind of detail is useful, but never write the review for the customer.
- A customer who picks a low rating is offered a private note first, so a dispute over a bill can reach the owner before it goes anywhere else. The Google link stays on the page.
