Smart Review Stand

Google review cards for cafes and coffee shops.

A cafe sees the same faces every week and has seconds with each of them. A card by the till turns the wait for a coffee into the moment a regular leaves a review.

Why the review does not get written.

Service at a counter is quick, and there is no bill and no pause in which to ask. Regulars like the place and have never been asked. The request has to fit in the time it takes to make a flat white.

Where the card goes.

At the till
Beside the card reader, where the customer's phone is already in their hand.
At the collection point
The wait for a drink is the longest idle moment in the visit. A card there gets read.
On shared tables
For customers who sit in, a card on the larger tables covers the people who never queue twice.

When to ask.

  • While the drink is being made, with a short line such as: if you like it here, a tap on that card helps us a lot.
  • When a regular pays a compliment.
  • After you have fixed a wrong order well. People remember a good recovery.

Worth knowing.

  • Loyalty stamps, free coffees and prize draws for reviews are rewards, and Google's policy forbids them.
  • Keep the card clear of the tip jar and the loyalty cards so it reads as its own request.
  • The QR code on the card covers older phones and anyone with NFC switched off.
